An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Hillside High School Principal Dies: Remembering Terry Woolard Terry Woolard, the principal of Hillside High School, died on Monday, Dec. 29, the school district said. "This is truly heartbreaking news, and. this loss is deeply felt throughout our school community," Hillside Public Schools said in a statement. "Mr. Woolard was a dedicated leader whose commitment to students, families, staff, and colleagues made a lasting and meaningful impact. He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with his family." Car Crashes Into Fence, Drives Off: Washington Twp PD A car crashed into a fence, only to flee the scene in Washington Township on Wednesday, Dec. 31, authorities said. At 1 a.m., a Ford Focus crashed into a vinyl fence on Egg Harbor Road, destroying the structure, Washington Township police said. Investigators are looking for a Ford Focus between 2012 and 2018, police said. The vehicle is expected to have extensive drivers side front-end damage, possibly including a missing or damaged exterior mirror components, police said. Retired Robbinsville Police Chief’s Son Critically Injured On Vacation, Campaign Says Matthew Polaski and his family were celebrating the holidays in Dominican Republic when he sustained a head injury leaving him critically injured. Polaski, the son of Mike, who served as Robbinsville police chief, was rushed to a local hospital where emergency surgery was performed to relieve the swelling on his brain. Missing Williamstown Wallaby Found At Walmart Rex, the wallaby who escaped his Williamstown, NJ enclosure was found on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at his new favorite store. The wallaby had bolted from Lots of Love Farm on Monday, Dec. 30, but was quickly spotted at Walmart at 1370 Black Horse Pike before running into the woods, the sanctuary said. Missing Wallaby Spotted At Williamstown Walmart Rex, a wallaby, is on the run in Gloucester County after he escaped Monday, Dec. 29. The wallaby got out of his enclosure at Lots of Love Farm in Williamstown last night, the farm said in a post on Facebook. "He is friendly but on the run," the farm said. Monroe Police Capt. Kevin Bielski told NJ Advance Media that Rex was spotted outside a Walmart near the sanctuary, after nearly being hit by a car. He was last spotted in the woods near the store, Bielski told NJ Advance Media. Bielski said officers are keeping an eye out for Rex. Anyone who sees Rex is asked to call 856-728-4188.

Man Killed In Hit, Run, Crash In Jersey City: Prosecutor A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Jersey City Monday, Dec. 29, authorities said. At 8 p.m., Jersey City police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Tonnelle Avenue near North Street and found the lifeless body of a man in the street, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Mello said. He has not been identified, Mello said. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene, Mello said. The crash remains under investigation, Mello said.
