Missing Tire Leads To DWI Arrest: Denville PD A 71-year-old Denville woman was arrested and charged with DWI after driving without a tire on Wednesday, May 6, authorities said. At 8 p.m., officers pulled over a vehicle on Route 53 after observing it did not have a front passenger side tire, Denville police said. While talking to the driver, Deborah Walz, officers determined she was intoxicated, police said. Walz was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor or drugs, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, police said. She was released pending a court appearance, police said.

Three Men Use Sledgehammers To Rob Jewelry Store: Newark PD Three men are at large after a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Newark on Wednesday, May 6. At 1:03 p.m., police responded to a  jewelry store at Ferry Street near Van Buren Street after three men arrived in a stolen vehicle, exited and used sledgehammers to break the store's front door and windows and take an unknown amount of jewelry, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. The suspects then fled in the stolen vehicle, Miranda said. No injuries of store employees have been reported and the robbery remains under investigation, Miranda said.
