A Long Island ice cream man who served the North Shore community has died following a stroke late last year, his family announced Saturday, March 28.
Sonny Taluy drove his ice cream truck through Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, and all other nearby communities for more than 30 years, according to an online fundraiser created for him and his wife, Lynn.

A Long Island man plied a vulnerable woman with crack cocaine, then sex trafficked her under threat of a violence, a jury found Monday, March 30.
Mitchell Johnson, a 38-year-old Farmingville man, was convicted of sex trafficking and promoting prostitution, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office announced.
Johnson enticed the victim in March 2023 by pretending to be another woman, then preyed on her crack addiction, prosecutors said. He then forced the victim to remain in a motel room and perform sex acts for money, according to investigators.
