Kids Catch Running Fever In Westport Race WESTPORT, Conn. – Runners have been flocking to the Minute Man Race in Westport for 35 years. Over the past four, the kids races under the direction of Westport teacher and Peak Performance Sports Camps director Mark Carmody have become increasingly popular. “We’re still the little sister or brother of the group,’’ Carmody said. “But we’re getting bigger. Last year we had about 200, this year we’re hoping for about 300. Weston's Emily Savage Sets State Pole Vault Record, Wins Penn Relays WESTON, Conn. – Weston High School senior Emily Savage won the championship in the pole vault Thursday at the Penn Relays and set a state record with a jump of 13 feet, 1½ inches. The meet at the University of Pennsylvania is one of the most prestigious meets in the nation. Savage, who recently committed to the University of Oklahoma, also broke the meet record set in 2008 by three-quarters of an inch. Results are on the Penn Relays website. Savage discussed her performance on Runnerspace.com after the competition.

Harvey School Teams Win In Boys, Girls Lacrosse KATONAH, N.Y. – The Harvey School boys and girls lacrosse teams picked up big wins on Wednesday. The boys defeated Chase Collegiate, 16-5, and the girls rolled past Masters of Connecticut, 19-8. In the boys game, Connor Wilson’s three first-period goals staked the Cavaliers to an early lead. Wilson added two more in the second quarter as Harvey led 11-0 at halftime. Wilson had seven goals for the game. Norwalk Race One Of Many On Tap This Weekend FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Fairfield County running scene heats up along with the spring temperatures as races are planned this weekend in Norwalk, Westport, Danbury, Stamford, Wilton and Darien.
