The incident occurred at 8:15 a.m. at Battle Hill Elementary School at 2600 Killian Pl., Township of Union police said. The 8-year-old sustained a minor injury and was transported to Overlook Hospital in Summit by ambulance where he was treated and released, police said. No other vehicles were involved, police said.

Man Broke Cyclist's Jaw With Closed Fist: Belmar PD A 37-year-old Belmar man was arrested and charged with assaulting a cyclist, authorities announced this week. On Friday, Aug. 22, Anthony Alvear pulled in front of a pair of bicyclists in his dark blue Kia SUV, exited the vehicle and began shouting at them before he struck the bicyclist with a closed fist while he remained on his bicycle, Belmar police said. The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation, having sustained a broken jaw, requiring surgery, police said.
