At 12:51 a.m., troopers responded to Route 280 west in Newark after a Kia passenger vehicle struck the pedestrian who was walking in the travel lanes, Christopher Postorino, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Postorino said. The crash remains under investigation, Postorino said.
