Newark PD Captain Busted For DWI On Route 202: Authorities A Newark police captain was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Hunterdon County Saturday, Nov. 1, authorities said. At 11:10 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle failing to maintain its lane and obstructing the flow of traffic, Readington Police said.  The driver, Elvis Perez, a Middletown resident, was determined to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated, police said. He is charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and failure to maintain lane, police said. Perez has been suspended without pay, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
