Horse In Need Gets Boost From Firefighters In Mansfield A downed horse got some assistance from firefighters in Warren County Thursday, Feb 5. Firefighters responded to the 1700 block of Route 57 for a horse rescue, Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company and Mansfield Township Fire Company said.  Crews began placing straps under the horse to prepare to lift the horse, firefighters said. First responders scene were able to safely upright the horse with assistance from Bills towing, who provided a boom lift from one of their tow trucks, firefighters said.

At 6 p.m., the man exited his vehicle and entered the Sonic at 573 Spring St. to pick up food, Elizabeth police said. Upon returning, he observed an unknown man stealing his vehicle, police said. Flemington Man Killed In Route 78 Crash: Njsp A 63-year-old Flemington man was killed in a crash on Route 78 in Union County on Wednesday, Feb. 4, authorities said. At 6:36 a.m., troopers responded to Route 78 East in Berkeley Heights Township after a Ford pickup truck, operated by Karl Winar, veered off the roadway to the left and struck the concrete barrier, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Winer was pronounced dead at the scene, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
