At 7:05 p.m. on Friday, April 10, officers responded to Kay Jewelers after Jeremy Ruga asked an employee to look at a 14-carat gold necklace, placed it on his neck and fled the store on foot, Toms River police said. He ran through the Macy's parking lot, but was apprehended days later following an investigation and charged with theft, police said.

At 5:59 p.m.,  troopers responded to a report of a recovered body in the canal in Lower Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State police said. Upon their arrival, the body of a dead man was recovered, Lebron said. The investigation is ongoing, Lebron said.
