Juvenile Stabbed, Teen Suspect At Large: Bloomfield PD An 18-year-old is at large after a juvenile was stabbed in Bloomfield on Tuesday, Feb. 17, authorities said. At 12:57 p.m., offices responded to a stabbing on Walnut Street and located the victim, who had multiple stab wounds, Bloomfield police said. The victim was transferred to a nearby hospital where they are currently recovering, police said. Johan Ibarra is charged with attempted murder and multiple weapons offenses, police said. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, police said.

Man Defrauded Bank Out Of $70K: Phillipsburg PD A 63-year-old man is at large after he defrauded a bank out of $70,000, Phillipsburg police announced Wednesday, Feb. 18. In 2024, Alaa Alyazji submitted false documentation, including a fraudulent bill of sale and pay stubs, in order to obtain a loan of approximately $70,000, Phillipsburg police said. After receiving the loan proceeds, no payments were made and Alyazji ceased all communication with the lending institution, police said. Rainbow Hill at Sourland Mountain Preserve has added 55 acres to its hiking trails, the New Jersey Conservation Foundation announced Wednesday, Feb. 18. There are now 1,205 acres of protected land spanning Hunterdon and Somerset counties. The preserve in the Sourland Mountains of Central Jersey is open to the public and offers sweeping views of the rise known as Rainbow Hill. Bullet Discovered In Overhead Bin At Newark Airport A bullet was discovered in an overhead bin on a plane at Newark Airport on Tuesday, Feb. 17, United Airlines said. The bullet was found prior to United Airlines Flight 1511 departing Newark for Miami on Tuesday afternoon, the airline said. The flight underwent a security sweep prior to departure, United said. Security personnel cleared the aircraft, which eventually departed for Miami, the airline said.  The flight, which was scheduled to depart for Miami at 2:07 p.m., departed at 4:49 p.m., arriving in Miami at 7:33 p.m., more than two hours late.

Triple Shooting Outside Newark High School: Police Three people were shot outside Newark Collegiate Academy on Tuesday, Feb. 17, authorities said. At 8:44 p.m., police responded to Littleton Avenue near 12th Avenue and found a man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, Miranda said. A second victim also arrived at the for treatment, Miranda said. A 16-year-old boy later arrived at the hospital for treatment, Miranda said.  Each victim is in stable condition and each suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Miranda said.

Deer Rescued After Falling In Ice In Oceanport: FD A deer was saved after they fell into the ice in Oceanport on Tuesday, Feb. 17, authorities said. Firefighters responded to the Shrewsbury River near Pocano Avenue to rescue the deer, Port-Au-Peck Chemical Hose Volunteer Fire Company said.  Multiple fire departments along with Oceanport police and first aid crews worked hand in hand to safely the rescue the deer and bring it back to shore, firefighters said.
