A state employee received nearly $2,500 worth of illegal gifts, including Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton handbags, from one of her subordinates, according to a state investigation released Monday, March 9.
Lolita Davis, who remains employed at the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, was suspended without pay during the probe last year and lost nearly $20,000 in pay, according to settlement documents. She was also demoted and prevented from seeking a future supervisor role.

A Long Island woman was struck by a car and killed walking across a street in Nassau County, authorities said Monday, March 9.
Claudia Moncada, a 69-year-old Glen Cove woman, was headed east across Glen Cove Road in Greenvale just after 6 a.m. Monday, Nassau County Police said.
As Moncada was crossing the street, she was struck by a red 2018 Dodge Challenger traveling northbound, cops said. The driver, who was not publicly identified, remained on the scene after striking her.
