Teen Driver Strikes 81-Year-Old Dead In Northport, Police Say
An 81-year-old man was struck and killed by a teen driver while crossing a Long Island roadway, Suffolk County Police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Pierino Liberta, 81, of Saint James, was hit by a northbound 2020 Subaru Outback while crossing Larkfield Road from west to east in front of 332 Larkfield Road in East Northport at about 10:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, police said.
Liberta was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, authorities said.

Two Injured After Minivan Crashes Into Truck On Route 80: Njsp
Two people were injured in a crash between a truck and a minivan on Route 80 in Warren County on Monday, Jan. 12, authorities said.
A Dodge minivan, operated by a 75-year-old Mount Bethel, Pa. woman was traveling west on Route 80 in Hope Township when it crashed into the back of a Freightliner driven by a 31-year-old Nebraska man, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.
As a result of the crash, the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries, and Conti sustained serious injuries, Lebron said.
The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
