A longtime Haverhill accountant accused of "profiting off others' misery" by running a prostitution operation and dealing drugs from his office for years has admitted to multiple crimes, authorities said.
John Caruso, 80, pleaded guilty on Friday, Jan. 23, to charges of maintaining a house of prostitution, possessing suboxone with intent to distribute, possessing gabapentin with intent to distribute, possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, and possessing fentanyl, according to the Essex County District Attorney Paul F. A man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and raping two young girls years apart has been sentenced, authorities announced on Friday, Sept. 26.
Mee Reh, 33, of Lancaster City, pleaded guilty on Aug. 21 to rape of a child, criminal attempt of rape of a child, sexual assault, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, indecent exposure, two counts of corruption of minors, and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.

Justin Covell, 32, of Cropseyville, was sentenced to 10 years of probation in Rensselaer County Court on Tuesday, Sept. 9, after pleading guilty to possessing a sexual performance by a child, a felony.
