One person was injured and six people were displaced following an apartment fire in Jersey City on the afternoon of Monday, April 15, authorities said. Firefighters arrived at 290 Webster Ave and found a working fire in an apartment on the third floor, which caused extensive damage, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Six adults were relocated by the Red Cross, Wallace-Scalfione said. One woman in a basement apartment was treated and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, Wallace-Scalfione said. Large Hudson Valley Fire Destroys Several Townhomes, Leaves Residents Homeless
Several residents were left homeless after a fire ripped through a popular Hudson Valley townhouse complex. The incident occurred in Orange County shortly after 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in Chester at the Whispering Hills Complex. Chester Fire Chief Tom Marchiano told Mark Lieb of Rockland Video Productions that when firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting through the roof of one of the buildings in the center of the complex. A Maryland family awoke to a tree crashing through the middle of their two-story home before dawn on Friday, March 1. The tree fell on a home on the 2900 block of Collins Avenue in Wheaton around 4:45 a.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson Pete Piringer said.
