Longtime Newark Police Officer Paul Hamilton Dies At 49
Paul Hamilton, a longtime police officer in Newark, died Saturday, June 7, at the age of 49, according to his obituary.
Known for his sense of humor and love of practical jokes, Hamilton enjoyed playing basketball, Scrabble and especially loved spending time with his family, taking trips to Wildwood and Disney, his obituary reads.
Hamilton served on the Newark police force for more than 20 years before retiring and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, according to his obituary.

Thief Busted Removing Tires From Cop’s Personal Car: Newark PD
A thief was arrested after he tried to remove tires from a police officer’s personal vehicle leading to a scuffle on Sunday, June 1, authorities said.
At 4:14 a.m., an off-duty Newark police officer observed a man removing a tire from the officer’s vehicle in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
When the officer approached the suspect, a fight ensued, Miranda said. A patrolling Newark police vehicle was flagged down, and the suspect, who was not identified, was arrested without further incident, Miranda said.
