Long Beach Woman, 77, Killed After Struck By Pickup Truck: Homicide Squad
A Long Island woman was killed after she was hit by a pickup truck on Monday, Nov. 24, at 10:26 a.m., Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives announced on Thursday, Nov. 27. Detectives said the crash happened as a 49-year-old man was driving a 2020 Chevy Silverado east on East Chester Street. He made a right turn onto Pacific Boulevard and struck a pedestrian who was crossing, according to the release. A pedestrian killed in a Hicksville crash on Saturday, Nov. 22, has been identified, the Homicide Squad announced on Sunday, Nov. 23. The crash happened as 45-year-old Orlando Yanes of Hicksville attempted to cross Jerusalem Avenue near Gem Court at 7:34 p.m., according to detectives. Yanes was struck by a 2021 Toyota RAV4 traveling southbound and suffered severe trauma. A medic pronounced him dead at the scene, the release said.
