Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Taxi Driver In Matawan: Prosecutor
A 62-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle in Matawan, authorities announced Tuesday, March 24.
At 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, officers responded to Railroad Plaza and Johnson Street after a taxi driver operating a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country vehicle ran off the lefthand side of the road, struck Osvaldo Dantas and then a telephone pole, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said.
Dantas, was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he later pronounced dead, Santiago said.
The crash remains under investigation, Santiago said.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Route 1 & 9, authorities announced Thursday, March 19.
At 11:42 p.m., on Friday, March 13, a 33-year-old Linden resident was struck by a Kia Rio as he attempted to cross Route 1 and 9 near Woodlawn Avenue, Linden police said.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, police said. The driver, a 46-year-old Elizabeth resident, was not injured and remained on-scene following the collision, police said.

The driver of a BMW that struck and killed a Maryland woman crossing a busy Virginia roadway late last month has now been charged, authorities announced on Sunday.
Officers initially responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, to a stretch of John Marr Drive between Backlick Road and Ravensworth Road in Annandale, where there were reports of a pedestrian who had been hit, according to Fairfax County Police.

A Long Island woman was struck by a car and killed walking across a street in Nassau County, authorities said Monday, March 9.
Claudia Moncada, a 69-year-old Glen Cove woman, was headed east across Glen Cove Road in Greenvale just after 6 a.m. Monday, Nassau County Police said.
As Moncada was crossing the street, she was struck by a red 2018 Dodge Challenger traveling northbound, cops said. The driver, who was not publicly identified, remained on the scene after striking her.

Reading Woman Killed In Wyomissing Crash At Berkshire Square Entrance: Police
A pedestrian struck by an SUV outside Berkshire Square Shopping Center in Wyomissing on Friday, March 6, has died, police said.
The victim, Eugenia Polonski, 71, of Reading, was taken to Reading Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to the release.
Wyomissing police were dispatched to State Hill Road at the shopping center entrance at about 1:15 p.m. for a reported crash involving a pedestrian, according to the release.
