A 21-year-old Brooklyn man was killed in a crash on Route 23 in Sussex County on New Year's Day, authorities said.
At 11:58 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 1, troopers responded to Route 23 south in Montague Township, when a Audi SUV driven by Nazar Bilous was negotiating a curve when it ran off the roadway to right, struck a large rock, re-entered the roadway, ran off the roadway to the right again, and struck a large tree stump and a tree, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesperson for the New Jersey State police said.
