Firefighters Make Quick Work Of Saddle Brook Basement Blaze Firefighters rescued a dog while quickly dousing a basement blaze that damaged a Saddle Brook home. The fire broke out in the two-story Alberta Drive home around 9 p.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported. Providing mutual aid either at the scene or in coverage were firefighters from Elmwood Park, Fair Lawn, Garfield and Rochelle Park. The Saddle Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded. The fire started around 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 5, at 1130 Williams St. in Bridgeport, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport. According to Appleby, the first arriving units reported fire on the second floor which had extended to the third floor.
