Christmas Tree Fire Injures Family, Dog Rescued As Flames Rip Through Bethesda Home (Photos)
A holiday celebration turned into chaos when a dry Christmas tree ignited inside a Maryland home, sending flames racing through the first floor and putting multiple residents and pets in danger, officials said.
The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, at a single-family home in the 10300 block of Fleming Avenue, off Grosvenor Lane in Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials.

Dog Rescued After Falling Through Ice: Sparta PD
A 10-yearold Labrador named Sunkiss was rescued by a Sparta police officer after falling through the ice on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
After Sunkiss, who was out with her brother, 4-year-old Bruno, fell into the ice, Patrolman Michael Poon put on the department's ice rescue gear and headed out to Lake Mohawk near Rainbow Trail, Sparta police said.
Poon crawled out onto the ice to reach the dog, entering the icy water and pushing Sunkiss back onto the ice, ensuring she made it safely onto dry land, police said.

Dead Dog Tied To Tree: South Jersey Trio Indicted For Animal Cruelty, Prosecutor Says
Three Atlantic County residents have been indicted for animal cruelty, authorities said.
On Thursday, July 6, Derek Hardy, 58, Lassale Hardy, 56, and Shak Balayet, 51, all of Egg Harbor Township, were indicted by an Atlantic County grand jury.
They were charged in connection with the death of one dog and the near death of another, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
On May 10, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to Wilburforce Avenue for a report of two abandoned dogs.
