A Westchester County Department of Social Services employee is facing charges for allegedly demanding cash bribes from daycare providers in exchange for processing reimbursement checks meant to support families in need, prosecutors announced.
Cheryl Spencer, 61, of Mount Vernon, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon, August 5, in White Plains City Court on five counts each of third-degree bribe receiving, fourth-degree criminal solicitation, and official misconduct, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced.

Brendan Anthony Morris, 25, of Upper Marlboro, was caught with cocaine, Suboxone, and a stolen vehicle during an investigation in Maryland, officials said.

Hagerstown Man Fires Shots At Victim During Maryland Dispute, Police Say
A Maryland man is behind bars after allegedly firing multiple shots at another person during a heated overnight argument, police said.
Officers with the Hagerstown Police Department responded to the 200 block of W. Franklin Street around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, for a report of shots fired.
“Within minutes, officers were able to identify the suspect from city surveillance cameras, locate him and place him under arrest,” HPD said in a statement.
