Arrestee Dies After 3 Days In The York County Prison: Authorities
A 39-year-old Columbia, PA man who was arrested exactly three days ago has died in the York County Prison, authorities announced on Friday, July 7, 2023. Haywood Dixon Jr. was declared dead at 12:06 a.m. following a cardiac arrest in the prison, according to County Coroner Pam Gay. His death was certified by Gay and Deputy Coroner Molly York. Haywood reportedly declined routine medical care on Thursday night, the prison staff told Gay. Later that evening, he began to complain of chest pain and shortness of breath. A 67-year-old retiree from Wood-Ridge was in cardiac arrest when he was pulled from a backyard pool, family members said. Dennis R. Haggerty was in the above-ground pool on Windsor Road when he suffered the attack shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, July 6, loved ones said.
