One person is hospitalized and another in police custody after an attempted robbery ended in gunfire late on Friday, Sept. 8, Bethlehem police say. Elijah Watkins, 19, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, and related counts, city police said. A 64-year-old Pennsylvania man heading to a facility in New York has gone missing — and he might be in danger, according to a police release on Aug. 15. Three tornadoes have been confirmed to have touched down in Central Pennsylvania on Monday, Aug. 7, the National Weather Service confirmed on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023. Police have arrested a man who they say threatened to set off an explosive device at Bethlehem's Musikfest 2023, they said. Robert "Bob" Bowen apparently threatened to detonate some sort of device at this year's 10-day music festival running through Sunday, Aug. 13, Bethlehem police said. Bowen was also linked to several incidents involving someone setting off firework-sized devices in and around Bethlehem, authorities said. A warrant was issued for Bowen's arrest, and he was taken into custody at his home in Bethlehem on Friday, Aug. 4, police said.

Bethlehem Duo Charged In Overnight Burglary Spree
A pair of Bethlehem residents are charged in connection with a string of overnight break-ins at Palmer Township area homes and businesses, authorities say. Martha Toukolehto and Eugene Ruiz are in the Northampton County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail, township police wrote in a release. Coroner IDs Body Found In Lehigh River
Northampton County authorities have identified the body found floating in the Lehigh River over the weekend. He was 62-year-old Bethlehem resident Dale G. Moyer, county Coroner Zachary Lysek's Office said in a release. Moyer's official cause and manner of death are pending the results of an investigation, Lysek added. His body was found in Lower Saucon Township on Sunday, June 25, according to the release.

Bethlehem Driver, 81, Killed In Accident
Authorities have identified the Bethlehem driver who died in a crash on Wednesday, June 21. Rong Chin Kuo, 81, of Bethlehem, died of blunt force injuries in an accident, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said in a release. Kuo was driving along the 1900 block of Easton Avenue at 4 p.m. when his car veered off the road and hit a tree, the Coroner said. He was rushed to St. Luke's University Hospital where he died from his injuries about two hours later, officials said. The crash is being investigated by Bethlehem police, the Coroner's Office added.
