A man who mishandled a gun and shot his girlfriend on Saturday has been arrested, according to Columbia Borough police. Columbia Borough Police were dispatched to a shooting at 410 Locust Street just after 7 p.m. Hailey Jean Brown, 20, was found by police lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to her left hip. Her boyfriend, Alexander Lewis Heaps, 26, admitted to mishandling his legally purchased semi automatic handgun and accidentally shooting Brown. Police recovered the gun, a 9mm Smith and Wesson. Former Fairfield County Football Standout Dies During Accidental Shooting
A former Fairfield County teen who was a well-known staple on the football fields has been killed in an accidental shooting in Georgia. Zyon McDuffie, age 14, was killed on Sunday, Aug. 1, in the home his family had just moved to so his mother could take a new job at a hospital in Union City, Georgia. Gun Accidentally Discharges Injuring 2 At Lancaster County Gun Range
Two people were injured when a gun accidentally discarded at a Lancaster County shooting range, according to Emergency Dispatch Services. Emergency Medical Units were called to Trop Gun Retail & Range at 910 North Hanover Street in Mount Joy Township on Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. Two people-- including an 80-year-old man-- were injured by the accidental fire, according to the dispatch supervisor and area police. The status and condition of the shooting victims have not been made public. The reason the gun discharged is unknown. A police investigation is on-going.

10-Year-Old Boy Shoots, Kills Himself After Finding Gun In Philadelphia Home
A 10-year-old boy shot and killed himself after finding a gun in his Philadelphia home, news reports say. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. Saturday in a home at 1410 W Pacific St., NBC News reports. The boy and his 8-year-old sister apparently found the weapon in a cabinet, when he shot himself in the head, the outlet says. The girl ran to a neighbor's house and called police. The boy was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead around 40 minutes after the shooting.

A 3-year-old girl died in what police are calling an accidental shooting in a western Pennsylvania apartment, according to Allegheny County police.
