Norman A. Tardiff, 101, Wappinger Resident
WAPPINGER, N.Y. — Wappinger resident Norman A. Tardiff died on Wednesday, April 27. He was 101.
A Wappinger resident since 1946, Tardiff received his master's degree at Brown University in 1940 and was an instructor in zoology at the University of Connecticut.
Drafted at age 27, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge, attaining the rank of captain.
After the war, he and his wife, Anne, were the owners of Tardiff's Jewelers in Wappingers Falls for 30 years.

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. — Spring Valley resident Sandra L. Gasparini died on Wednesday, April 27. She was 69.
She was born in Ossining, on Dec. 20, 1946, to Michael and Joanne Scarduzio.
Gasparini worked as a beautician for many years and also at Chestnut Ridge Transportation.
She cherished her two dogs, Chanel and Sara.
Gasparini is survived by her long-time domestic partner, Deborah R. Royster, her son, John Gottwald, granddaughters Krystal and Marisa; two great-grandsons; and her brother, Michael Scarduzio.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Former Poughkeepsie resident Patricia Ellen Hannon died Sunday, May 1. She was 75.

FISHKILL, N.Y. — Fishkill resident Mariano Tiga Muyot died on Tuesday, May 3. He was 81.
Muyot was born in Manila, the Philippines on Dec, 26, 1935, to Dr. Vedasto Muyot and Juliana Tiga Muyot,
His gratitude toward the U.S. forces who liberated his country from the Japanese during World War II was so great that he joined the U.S. Navy in Subic Bay, in the Philippines in 1962.
He served from 1962-68 and was a combat veteran.
