Bridgeport, Pseg Sign Pact to Establish $2 Million Environmental Fund BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The construction of a new gas-fired electric plant will mean $2 million for a community environmental fund in Bridgeport.  PSEG Power Connecticut and Mayor Joseph P. Ganim on Thursday signed an agreement in conjunction with the construction the plant to establish a fund to pay for health, environmental and renewable projects. “This is truly a historic day for the City of Bridgeport,” said Sharon Lewis of the Connecticut Coalition for Environmental Justice. Bridgeport Woman Charged With Shoplifting At Kohl's In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Bridgeport woman was arrested Monday after she attempted to steal about $60 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s, police said. Gloria Brigida Vasquez, 39, of Harral Avenue, was walking through the Tunxis Hill Road store, stuffing merchandise in a baby bag, police said. She was apprehended when she tried to walk out of the store without paying for the goods. Vasquez was charged with sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court on March 1.

Fairfield Woman Arrested on Child Endangerment Charges FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Stephens Lane woman was arrested on child endangerment charges Monday after the Fairfield Fire Department found a strong odor of gas in her home, police said. Helen Bambus, 39, was charged with two counts of risk of injury to and impairing the morals of a child and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.
