The 66-year-old said the glasses, valued at $500, were in the car when she dropped it off at Splash Car Wash, Kings Highway Cutoff, but were missing when she returned around 5 p.m. Friday, police said.

Fairfield Police Burst Suspect's Bubble In Gum Theft FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Stratford man was arrested on shoplifting charges in Fairfield on Sunday, after police said he attempted to steal nearly $300 in chewing gum from the Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue. Police said store security officers saw Lee Elbert Best, 51, of Woodend Road, put the gum in a plastic trash can and leave the store around 1:30 p.m.. Town police found him at a Tunxis Hill Road bus stop, police said. Best was charged with sixth-degree larceny and warned not to return to the Villa Avenue store, police said. A store security officer detained Louis Bottone, 23, of Funston Street, around 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, after he watched him place the energy drinks, valued at $146, in a shopping bag and leave the store without paying, police said.
