Falling Tree Kills NJ Man In Backyard Tragedy, Police Say
A 67-year-old man died after being struck by a falling tree at a home in North Jersey on Thursday, April 9, authorities said. Officer James Evans responded to a home in Budd Lake and found the man in a backyard pinned under a large tree branch, unresponsive and suffering from serious injuries, Mount Olive police said. Atlantic EMS and St. Clare’s paramedics responded and attempted to render aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name has not been released.

Driver Covers Holding Cell In Urine After Being Found With $122K In Stolen Checks: Cops
A 19-year-old Bergen County resident found with more than $122,000 in stolen checks and U.S. Postal Service property during a motor vehicle stop covered his holding cell in urine before being booked in the county jail, police said. Moses H. Lemite, of Teaneck, was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 8, following a stop conducted by Teaneck Detective Sgt. James Lynch, according to Deputy Chief Seth Kriegel. Bergen County EMT Liza Rivera Dies: ‘One Of The Best’
A North Jersey EMT and paramedic has died after battling cancer, prompting an outpouring of tributes from the first responder community. Liza Marie Rivera, of Bloomfield, died on Tuesday, April 7, according to her obituary on the Di Chiara Funeral Home website. She was 57 years old. Rivera was born in Manhattan and later settled in Bloomfield, where she worked as a paramedic for HMH Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, her obituary says.
