North Stamford All-Stars Fall in Sectional STAMFORD, Conn. – The North Stamford Little League 10-year-old All-Stars roared through the District 1 tournament undefeated and crushed nearly everybody in their path. The Section 1 tournament, however, proved far more challenging. North Stamford finished Section 1 play Monday night with a 12-0 loss to District 2 champ Westport. It starts July 30 from the Fairfield County Hunt Club, same time and place as the adult event, and will raise money for cancer survivorship programs. Rowers from Southport, Westport, Weston and New Canaan are among those selected to compete for the U.S. in the Aug. 3-7 meet at Eton Dorney, Great Britain. Fairfield Captures State Softball Crown FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Little League softball All-Stars swept Mystic over the weekend to win the state championship. They head to the East Regionals beginning Friday in Bristol. Fairfield won 3-2 on Saturday and 6-2 on Sunday at Hatters Park in Danbury. Fairfield is now 11-1 in postseason competition and has won 10 straight.
