Philip Rosen, 92, New Rochelle Resident, Masonry Contractor, War Veteran NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Philip Rosen, 92, of New Rochelle died on Sunday, Jan. 19. Rosen was born in the Bronx on Sept. 1, 1921 to Isadore and Anna Rosen. He graduated from Townsend Harris High School and Cornell University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cornell, won a Merit scholarship and was also a member of the Cornell crew team. He worked as an engineer for Stone and Webster while working for the United States government on “The Manhattan Project.” He served as a Lieutenant for the U.S. Navy during World War II. Romanian Man Found Guilty In Death Of Former Sacred Heart Basketball Player FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Romanian man was found guilty in the death of former Sacred Heart University basketball player Chauncey Hardy in October 2011. Ionut Adrian Tanasoaia was sentenced to seven years in prison in the death of Hardy, 23, who played for the Pioneers from 2006-10. Hardy played at Xavier in Middletown in high school. Prosecutors said Tanasoaia punched Hardy on Oct. 9, 2011, at a club in Giurgiu, Romania, according to a report. Hardy was playing for a local team at the time.
