Wilton Wahoos Sweep Top Honors At State Swimming Championships WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton Y Wahoos traveled to Wesleyan University from March 6 to March 9 to compete in the Connecticut Senior Open Championships and took top honors in the men's, women's and combined team categories, with a total of 1,525 points. Over the four-day meet, many records were broken and numerous cut times were achieved. Max Dolan, of Southbury, was the male high point winner and Ian Rainey, of Westport, was the male distance high point winner. Girl From Stamford Finishes 3rd At National Track Championships STAMFORD, Conn. – Westhill’s Claire Howlett finished third in the country Friday in the 5,000-meter run at the New Balance Indoor Nationals at The Armory in New York. Howlett finished in 16:58.35. Tessa Barrett of Waverly, Pa., smashed the meet record and won in 16:11.85. Stephanie Jenks of Aurora, Iowa, took second in 16:37.5. Howlett finished eighth in the same race last year. Her time this year was an improvement by 24 seconds. Barrett finished fourth last year. The top eight in the race are All-Americans. Bedford Realtor Takes 3rd In Marquee Equestrian Event GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich’s Gloria Marwell, a Realtor for Douglas Elliman in Bedford, N.Y., delved into her other passion last week by competing in the equestrian event of cutting. She was rewarded with a third place finish in the NCHA Eastern Nationals in Jackson, Miss. Marwell and her horse, Bet On Pink, competed in Non-Pro Division. Stamford Police Officer Solves Degree Dilemma Through Ideal Program STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford police officer Mark Sinise had acquired some college credits, but with five years on the force and a challenging work schedule he was not sure how he could fit in time to finish his degree.
