Darien Blue 8s Fall Short Vs. NC The eighth-grade Darien Blue football team fell inches short of a thrilling comeback in Sunday's 8-6 loss to New Canaan in a Fairfield County Football League game at Darien High School. He found Timothy Lochtefeld on a 19-yard touchdown pass on a fourth down play with 57 seconds left. Darien had two cracks at a game-t…

Turnovers Cost Panthers in Loss Turnovers Cost Panthers in Loss Turnovers Cost Panthers in Loss
Turnovers Cost Panthers in Loss No matter the level of football, turnovers provide the most important clues to a game's result. Norwalk Panthers coach John Woodring was reminded of that again Sunday as the seventh-grade squad lost to Bridgeport, 33-20, in a Candlewood Valley League game at Brien McMahon High School. The Chargers from Bridgeport (7-0) took advantage of three interceptions, recovered a fumble and grabbed an onsides kick to hold off the upset-minded Panthers (5-2). Norwalk slipped into third place in the league behind Bridgeport and Newtown. "We saw some things that thought we might be able to pass against t…
