$5K Bike Stolen In Summit: Police A $5,000 bicycle was stolen in Summit Friday morning, May 1, authorities said. At 3:04 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Springfield Avenue for a report of an activated commercial burglar alarm, Summit Police said. Officers observed the front door of the establishment to be ajar with shattered glass on the ground, police said. The suspect entered the store at 2:58 a.m., took a light blue Specialized Vado 5.0 bicycle valued at $4,999.99 and exited the store within a minute. The suspect remains at large, police said.

At 4:10 p.m., police responded to 15th Avenue and South 19th Street and found a man who had been slashed in the hand, sustained after grappling for a knife during a fight with a man he knows, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, The victim was transported to nearby hospital in stable condition, Miranda said. School Bus Aide Sexually Assaulted Minors In Roselle: Prosecutor A 69-year-old Paterson school bus aide was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting two minors in Roselle, authorities announced Friday, May 1. Frederico Nicasio Genao sexually assaulted teenagers who rode on his school bus, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel and Roselle Police Chief Helder Friere said. Genao appeared to target teenagers diagnosed with autism, one of whom was non-verbal, authorities said. He is charged with endangering the welfare of a child by sexual contact and aggravated criminal sexual contact, authorities said.
