1 Killed In Jersey City Fire: Authorities One person was killed in a fire in Jersey City on Tuesday, Jan. 27, authorities said.  At 8:54 p.m. firefighters responded to 11 College Dr. and found a working fire on the 5th floor, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokesperson for the mayor's office said. One person was found unconscious inside the building, Wallace-Scalfione said. At 1:40 a.m., firefighters responded to a blaze on Ocean Avenue after a Long Branch police officer noticed heavy smoke near the Breakwater Beach Club, the Monmouth Beach Fire Department said. Long Branch firefighters found heavy fire conditions at the single family home and a second alarm was tolled, firefighters said. No injuries were reported, firefighters said.
