Norwich Woman, 33, Killed In Route 2 Pedestrian Crash In Preston: Police A 33-year-old Connecticut woman was killed following a pedestrian versus SUV crash on Route 2 earlier this month in Preston, authorities said.  Mirlande Etienne, of Norwich, was hit by the vehicle around 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, according to Connecticut State Police. The crash happened at the Route 2 and Route 164 intersection.  Police said Etienne was taken to Backus Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The 24-year-old Norwalk native became the first Connecticut-born athlete to win a medal at the Winter Games. Forehand earned silver in men’s freestyle skiing Big Air on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.  He scored 95.00 on his first run in the final on Tuesday. The company announced over the weekend it had closed its Norwalk restaurant, which was operated out of the Waypointe development at 515 West Ave. for close to a decade.
