A Long Island father of two who spent nine months in ICE jail and attempted suicide three times was released Tuesday, July 7, according to his family.
Juan Bonilla Lagos, 32, met his wife and two kids at Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan around 2 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, Newsday reported.
Bonilla Lagos, a Plainview resident, had been held at an ICE detention center in Batavia following his arrest in October 2025, according to Newsday. His family told the outlet he was taking his 5-year-old son to a doctor’s appointment when agents stopped their car.

Michael Laraque, 31, was standing at Huntington Rural Cemetery and chucking rocks at passing vehicles around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Suffolk County Police Department said. He damaged three vehicles and broke a window at Laura’s Dance Studio across the street, investigators said.
