A 56-year-old Manchester nurse at a nursing home in Ocean County was indicted by a grand jury for assaulting an 87-year-old man earlier this year, authorities announced Tuesday, Sept. 16.
On Wednesday, March 19, at 8:52 p.m., officers responded to Whiting Gardens, at 3000 Hilltop Rd. in Whiting for a fight between staff and the man, Manchester police said.

Whiting Man Killed In Crash After Medical Episode: Manchester PD
A 77-year-old Whiting man was killed in a crash in Manchester on Thursday, June 19, after sustaining a medical emergency, authorities said.
Officers responded to County Route 539 for a two-vehicle crash between a gray 2016 Toyota Tacoma and a blue 2024 Ford Maverick, Manchester police said. The Ford crossed the center line and struck the Toyota on the driver's side-rear, while both cars were driving on Route 539, police said.
After the initial crash, the Ford continued to travel south and left the roadway to the right, crashing into a tree, police said. The Toyota overturned, police said.

Ghost Guns, Meth, Firearm Seized From Pair In Ocean County Raid: AG
Two Ocean County residents are facing charges following a raid on Wednesday, Feb. 19 that turned up numerous ghost guns and methamphetamine, authorities said.
Law enforcement conducted search warrants at multiple locations and recovered and seized, guns, including guns with no serial number- "ghost guns," extended magazines, and a quantity of methamphetamine, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.
The defendants, George Garulle, 56, of Beachwood, and Dana Restaino, 39, of Whiting, conspired to sell a defaced firearm with no serial number, Platkin said.

A 26-year-old motorcyclist and father of a 9-month-old girl was killed in a collision on the Jersey Shore last week, authorities said.
The driver of an SUV was ticketed for careless driving and making an improper turn, Berkeley Township police said.
The motorcyclist, identified as Daniel Wisnewski of Beachwood, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said on Friday, Sept. 9.

A pickup truck driver was killed and a second motorist was seriously hurt in a crash in Burlington County, authorities said.
The five-vehicle crash occurred at 6:48 a.m. Tuesday near the Route 70 intersection with Spring Lake Boulevard in Pemberton Township.

A 63-year-old man from the Jersey Shore has been sentenced to six years in state prison for leaving the scene of a fatal crash, authorities said.
Kevin Noonan, of Manchester, was sentenced on Friday, April 1, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
The hit-and-run crash on April 13, 2021, killed Jack Gotfried, 69, of Whiting, after Noonan loaded furniture onto his pickup truck, the prosecutor said.
