Lane Closures Scheduled On Sunrise Highway, Peconic Road In Southampton
Overnight lane closures have been scheduled on two of Long Island’s most busy roadways, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced. For approximately three weeks, beginning on Sunday, May 1, the NYSDOT said that to facilitate bridge maintenance on the Peconic Road bridge over Sunrise Highway in Southampton there will be temporary closures, weather permitting. There will be lane closures on a busy Long Island roadway for several weeks as crews begin work on a repaving project. In Nassau County, the New York State Department of Transportation announced that there will be overnight closures of the northbound Meadowbrook State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead between Bay Parkway and Merrick Road (Exit M9). A portion of I-95 in Delaware County has reopened after a Thursday morning crash that left one person dead, authorities confirmed. The crash was reported just before 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes at mile marker 3.6 in Chester, Pennsylvania State Police said in a Wednesday afternoon release. A sinkhole opened, closing a road in Lancaster County on Sunday, according to Pequea Township police. State Route 324, Marticville Road has closed between West Penn Grant and Sprecher Roads in Pequea Township. For two to three weeks, motorists exiting Interstate 91 at Northampton Exit 19 will be in for a long detour over the Coolidge Bridge.
