3 Dead In 5-Vehicle Crash On Route 33: State Police Three people were killed in a crash that began with an out-of-control tractor trailer on Route 33 in Monroe County Wednesday, March 1, Pennsylvania State Police said. The southbound trailer lost control and ended up in the northbound lanes, where it struck another tractor trailer and three other vehicles head-on, around 11 a.m. near the Saylorsburg exit, police said in a statement. A driver and front-seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of another vehicle was pronounced dead at the hospital.  The highway was closed for several hours.

The driver climbed out of his cab after the rig landed on its side at the Green Street exit off the westbound highway in Hackensack shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered serious. Hackensack firefighters cleaned up a minor fuel spill.
