A Bay Shore man is facing sex trafficking charges after forcing a woman into sex work, prosecutors said.
Daniel Soto, 37, was indicted in Suffolk County Court on Monday, July 14, after investigators determined he used violence and manipulation to force the victim into sex work for his personal profit, according to the district attorney’s office.
Soto arranged sexual encounters between the victim and paying clients throughout 2024 and into 2025—keeping all the money for himself, prosecutors said.

A 20-year-old Long Island man who regularly broadcasts his illegal street takeovers was busted racing 90 miles per hour on city streets, police said.
Nicholas Mulligan, 20, of Farmingville, was arrested following a traffic stop on the I-495 Service Road in Farmingville late Wednesday night, March 12, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.

Two property managers are facing charges for allegedly serving a Long Island resident a forged eviction notice.
Grace Rossi, age 52, and Cheryl Florie, age 43, both of Centereach, were arrested Friday, Oct. 13, on suspicion of forgery and related charges, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies began investigating after the victim contacted the agency saying a 14-day eviction notice that appeared to be fake had been posted on the door of their Centereach apartment.

Seven people are facing charges after an overnight sobriety checkpoint at the start of the Memorial Day weekend on Long Island.
Authorities conducted the operation in Patchogue at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and North Service Road from around 11:10 p.m. Friday, May 26, until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27.

A civilian mechanic employed by a Long Island sheriff's office was indicted for allegedly leaving the site of a car crash he caused with a company vehicle and falsely reporting the crash later, authorities said.
Brian Sloan, age 57, was driving a truck owned by the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, his employer, on December 23, 2022, at the time of the accident, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney.
