Sinkhole Opens Up In York County
Traffic is being redirected after a sinkhole opened up in York County on Wednesday night The sinkhole opened up in the area of South 3rd and Chestnut streets in Wrightsville Borough around 7 p.m. Although this sinkhole is Wrightsville elementary School, the school hours have not changed for Thursday. The hole is approximately 15 by 30 inches, according to local officials. Repair is already underway and the road is expected to reopen by Thursday night. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Sinkhole Closes Chemical Road In Plymouth Meeting
A sinkhole shut down Chemical Road in Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County Friday afternoon, NBC Philadelphia reports. The road leading to Metroplex Mall was shut down around 3 p.m. and the state Department of Transportation said it was immediately going to work around the clock until the road is reopened, officials told the news outlet. Cars are being detoured at Metroplex Boulevard and Germantown Pike, NBC reports.

Man Rescued From Collapsed Cesspool On Long Island
Police officers came to the rescue of a man who fell into a collapsed cesspool while doing yard work on Long Island. Ralph Santos, 88, was weed whacking at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3 in his backyard on Bancroft Road in North Bay Shore when a cesspool collapsed in the yard, creating a sinkhole, Suffolk County Police said. According to police, Santos fell into the hole, and was forced to use the electrical cord from the weed whacker to keep his head above the contents of the cesspool. A Surprise Sinkhole In Chicopee Is Causing Traffic Snarls In The Area
A sinkhole near the intersection of Ramond Road and Chicopee Street has caused traffic snarls in the area. The hole first appeared the morning of July 14 when the paved road gave way and a parked car sank about halfway into the hole. No one was injured in the surprise incident, said Erin Hastings, executive director of Westcomm Regional Dispatch. It is not clear what caused the sinkhole to open, but Hastings said dispatch was made aware of a nearby water main break that may have had something to do with it. A roadway in Ocean County that collapsed due to a large sinkhole.is closed to all traffic, police said. On Monday, the sinkhole opened up on Windsor Avenue, Toms River police said. The Municipal Utilities Authority and SUEZ are currently working to repair it, police said on Tuesday afternoon. Repairs to a morning water main break in Parsippany closed local streets Sunday. The break on Baldwin Road between Route 46 East and Troy Road caused a sinkhole, which was only reported after a vehicle crashed, police said. No one was injured. Starbucks, the PAL and other local businesses were without water. A backhoe working to repair a broken water main fell into a sinkhole in the parking lot at the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack Monday, authorities said.
