Hawthorne Native Megan Corcoran Dies, 24
Megan Corcoran, a Hawthorne native, died on Thursday, Aug. 14, according to her obituary on the C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home website. She was 24 years old.
Megan graduated from Hawthorne High School in 2019 and went on to earn her bachelor's from Rowan University in 2024, her obituary says. She had been working as an admissions coordinator for the Recovery Centers of America in South Amboy, her obituary reads.

Ramsey HS Grad Youssef Nissan Dies, 25
Youssef “Joseph” Nissan of Ramsey died Saturday, June 21, at age 25, according to his obituary with CC Van Emburgh Funeral Home.
Born in Ridgewood, Youssef graduated from Ramsey High School in 2018 and earned his psychology degree from Rowan University in 2023, his obituary reads.

Community Supports Linden Family Who Lost Everything In Fire
The Benda family lost everything, including their two cats Sunshine and Peek-a-Boo, after a fire engulfed their Linden home on Friday, May 26.
While the family, John, Carol and their two daughters, Kristen and Jamie, were lucky to escape unharmed, the fire destroyed their home and their possessions. A fundraiser has been created to help them get back on their feet. As of Friday, June 2, more than $15,000 has been raised.
