A tractor trailer crashed into a school bus on Route 80 in Morris County on Thursday, July 24, authorities said. At 9:56 a.m., the tractor trailer, which was traveling east in the center lane, struck a school bus in the left lane, causing it to lose directional control and hit the center median, Charles Marchan, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. A person had to be airlifted to a hospital after their vehicle overturned on Route 80 in Morris County Wednesday, July 9, authorities said. At 1:24 p.m., troopers responded to the crash on Route 80 West in Mount Olive, Charles Marchan, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. A Kia SUV was traveling west when it lost directional control, ran off the road, struck a sign, and overturned, Marchan said. The driver was airlifted with non-life-threatening injuries, Marchan said. The crash remains under investigation, Marchan said.

A 71-year-old Rockaway man was killed in a single-car crash on Route 80 on Sunday, June 8, authorities said. At 9:18 a.m., a Kia Sportage driven by Jon Defalco was traveling westbound on Route 80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills when it veered off the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for New Jersey State Police said. Yet another portion of Route 80 is currently closed for repairs. This time, it's not a pothole causing trouble, officials said. Two lanes and a shoulder of the eastbound lanes near Exit 37 in Rockaway were shut down shortly after 5 p.m. on May 12, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Another Gaping Sinkhole Opens Up On Route 80
Route 80 is now closed in both directions in Wharton after yet another sinkhole opened, the NJ Department of Transporation announced Wednesday, March 19. The 15-foot b 15-foot hole opened along the eastbound work zone. This sinkhole is in addition to the other one right across the highway which opened months ago. Multiple sinkholes have been cropping up due to a void discovered underneath the highway, officials said last month. On March 14, the DOT said the eastbound lanes were expected to remain closed for another two months due to repairs.
