The police officer who was seriously injured in a fatal crash with a drunk driver has been released from the hospital. Suffolk County Police Officer Christian Vidal was released from Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday, Sept. 27 around 10:30 a.m., officials say. Police say Vidal was driving northbound on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore when a southbound vehicle veered into the northbound lanes and struck his vehicle on Sunday, Sept. 1. A woman who suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a car in Summit three years ago has settled for $1.4 million, the woman's lawyer said Thursday. A driver trying to retrieve a ticket for a parking lot at DeForest and Woodland avenues July 12, 2016, accidentally stepped on the gas, crashing through the gate, according to the plaintiff’s attorney, Kathyrn Schwartzstein of Morristown.
