A month-long investigation into a downtown Orange County shooting has led to the arrests of three men and the recovery of two illegal firearms, police announced.
The incident happened in Middletown just after midnight on Sunday, Aug. 3, near the Switch Inn at 126 East Main St., when shots were fired in the area. No injuries were reported, but Middletown Police said the case quickly became a top priority because of the risk to public safety.

A Maryland man accused of setting a house on fire was busted after returning to the crime scene, according to investigators.
Deputy State Fire Marshals arrested Ryan Lawrence Spann, 40, of Oakland, after spotting him in the woods near the burned home in Garrett County on Tuesday, Sept. 2, officials said.
At about 2:30 p.m., a homeowner in the 1000 block of Pergin Farm Road reported seeing Spann ignite a blaze on the front porch before fleeing on a bicycle.

Lanham Man Sprays Bullets From SUV On Busy Maryland Highway, Police Say
A Prince George’s County man is behind bars after allegedly firing dozens of shots from his SUV while barreling down a busy Maryland highway, police said.
Maryland State Police said Jose Gregario Cruz-Mendoza, 45, of Lanham, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 17, after multiple 911 callers reported a white Ford Excursion spraying bullets on I-97 and later along Route 50 in Annapolis.
Troopers from the Annapolis Barrack, with backup from Anne Arundel County Police, pulled over the SUV on Route 50 near I-97 around 4:30 p.m., officials said.
