A 32-year-old Ventnor City man was indicted by a grand jury for fatally striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene, authorities announced Thursday, Aug. 7.
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m., Gino Garofalo struck Alisha Cottman, a 40-year-old Atlantic City resident, while driving on the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. Garofalo fled the scene while Cottman was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries, authorities said.

Driver Charged In Deadly New Year's Pedestrian Crash In Plainview, Cops Say
A 39-year-old Queens, NY woman has been charged in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a 38-year-old pedestrian on Long Island on New Year's, authorities said.
Veronica Marmol, of College Point, was behind the wheel of a 2018 Jeep Wrangler heading east when she struck the man on Old Country Road near Floral Avenue in Plainview, just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, Nassau County police said.
Marmol did not stop and continued heading east, leaving the victim seriously injured at the scene, according to police. A Nassau County Police medic pronounced the man dead on site.
