Officers responded to a 911 call reporting that the baby at a Riverhead residence, on 3rd Street, was unconscious and not breathing. CPR was performed, but the infant was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. Riverhead Town PD detectives and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the circumstances that led to the child's death. It happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 on the Sunrise Highway (Route 27) between exits 65 and 64, in Southampton. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a 2020 Ford Explorer, a 50-year-old East Quogue man, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes on Sunrise Highway when the Explorer struck a 2016 Volkswagen GTI, head-on. Medical Emergency Leads To Crash, Road Closure On Long Island, Police Say Police on Long Island are investigating and asking for witnesses to a crash following a medical emergency suffered by the driver. The incident occurred in Quogue around 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13 on the Montauk Highway near the intersection of Catbrier Road. According to Quogue Chief of Police Christopher Isola, responding officers arrived and found a pickup truck in the woods with a 71-year-old man in the driver seat suffering an apparent medical emergency.
