Man Who Robbed Orange Phone Store While Wearing Wig Sentenced An Ohio man who once took part in a violent criminal spree in Essex County in the early 1990s was sentenced to 300 months in prison for robbing a mobile phone store in Orange, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Craig Carpenito said.  Frederick White, 47, had earlier pleaded guilty to robbery under the federal Hobbs Act as well as brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.  On June 11, 2016, White walked into the store and demanded cash from an employee at gunpoint. Newark Man Found Fatally Shot In Orange The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a fatal shooting in Orange just after midnight Saturday.  Police responding to 67 Central Ave. shortly before 1 a.m. found a man with a gunshot wound sitting in a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was later identified as 35-year-old Shakur L. Cole of Newark.  Anyone with information is urged to call the prosecutor's tips line at 877-847-7432.

Police: Homeowner Watched Union Burglary On Video In Real Time, Suspect Caught A Union homeowner was at work in New York when the homeowner watched someone burglarize the residence via their video security system, police said.  A rookie police officer, Thyago Morais, was dispatched to the home on Roseland place Wednesday afternoon and caught the suspect, James Reed, coming out of the rear garage. Morais, who joined the force in January, arrested Reed without incident.  Reed, 42, of Orange, has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.
