No one who saw a horrific crash or its aftermath on Route 287 over the weekend thought the driver of a pickup truck that got folded onto the divider stood a chance of surviving. But he remained hospitalized on Tuesday, April 18, although with serious injuries, New Jersey State Police said. Wonsowicz, who won five World Series titles with the New York Yankees as coordinator of advanced scouting, recently opened W's Village Grille with his wife, Leslie, in Waldwick. Two drivers from Wayne were injured in a head-on crash that Oakland police said was caused when one of them tried to light a cigarette. The distracted 58-year-old smoker crossed the double-yellow line on Ramapo Valley Road, where her KIA slammed into a Honda Pilot driven by a 65-year-old township woman in front of the Oakland Diner, Capt. Lucille Howe (McElhaney) was born in Helena, MT in 1928 to James Lewis McElhaney and Dorothy Beatrice Stapleton. She was a third-generation descendant of the original pioneers of the Helena Valley (on her father’s side) and Walla Walla, WA (on her mother’s side).
