Newton Rescue Crews Pull Crashed Car Out Of Cheesecake Brook After Driver Loses Control: Cops
Newton police are asking the public to drive carefully after a car crashed into Cheesecake Brook just after 6:30 a.m. Friday morning and had to be pulled out of the water. Witnesses told police the driver was speeding at the time of the crash and lost control, Newton police said in a Facebook post. The speed limit in that area is 30 miles per hour because of the nearby middle school and high-pedestrian traffic. Luckily, the driver escaped with minor injuries, but they did receive several charges. Authorities did not release their name.

A Boston-based restauranteur has purchased the former space of a beloved pub on the North Shore nearly two weeks after they closed. Seth Gerber, a business partner of MIDA, said he purchased the space at the former Major Magleashe's Pub in Salem in an Instagram post on Saturday, Nov. 12. : 18-Year-Old Newton Man Killed In Needham Rollover Crash
A 18-year-old man from Newton was killed in a two-car rollover crash in Needham, authorities said. Dylan Newman died in the crash that happened in the area of Forest Street and Rolling Lane around 4:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, Needham Police said on Facebook. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Another driver was also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, police added. The crash is under investigation and there are currently no charges.

Newton Woman Swindled $40K From Ex-Landlord Before Killing Him: DA
A 47-year-old Newton woman beat her friend and former landlord to death earlier this week after he confronted her about stealing $40,000 from him, prosecutors said. Xiu Fang Ke will be arraigned Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 28, in the killing of 65-year-old Leonard Garber, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced during a press conference. Ryan said Ke had written checks from an account that belonged to Garber and stole $40,000 before he realized it. A 27-year-old Arlington man with multiple convictions of sending and receiving child porn will spend the next decade in prison after he pleaded guilty to the charge in federal court, authorities said. Mason Lister was arrested in 2020 after police found he had traded sexual images of children as young as toddlers through social media, the Department of Justice said. 31-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck By Semi-Trailer In CT
A 31-year-old man was fatally struck by a semi-trailer truck on I-91 in Connecticut. The crash happened on I-91 South near Exit 21 in Cromwell at about 11:20 p.m. on Monday, July 18, according to Connecticut State Police. Police said Nicholas Davidowicz, of Newton, Massachusetts, was standing outside of a 2014 Toyota Prius that was parked in the right and center lanes, and a 2014 Cascadia Freightliner swerved to avoid a collision.
